Does Your Pet Enjoy Vegetables?

 

How you feed your dog can have an impact on their overall health and potential lifespan. Some vegetables are believed to have antioxidants that help maintain your dog’s overall health and well being.

  • Try giving your dog a small amount of vegetables by adding them to their regular meal.
  • Consider: cauliflower, spinach, green beans, sweet potatoes and carrots.
  • Steam the vegetables or serve them raw by breaking them down in a food processor.
  • Veterinarians recommend that if you feed your dog vegetables, limit vegetables to one-fourth of your dogs total daily food intake .
  • Include a high quality source of protein in your dogs diet.

Caution: Vegetables including onions, garlic and mushrooms are toxic for your pets. Keep your pet away from vegetable plants including leaves, flowers and seeds.
